All Filipino crew loading soy at Kalama Export LLC for transport to China
KALAMA, WA (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 21, 2012

The Port of Kalama welcomes another maiden voyage from international bulk carrier ship, Coral Crystal, this week. The ship, which hails from Japan, is loading soy at Kalama Export LLC for shipment to China. The Coral Crystal is owned by SKM Shipping S.A., Panama, and is under operation by NYK Line Tokyo for this particular call to the Columbia River.

Port of Kalama marketing manager, Liz Newman, was on-hand to greet the ship and honor the crew including ship captain, Warren M. Pineda, and the ship’s agent, Nikolay Mihaylov, with Transmarine Navigation Corporation. Newman presented the crew with a Maiden Voyage plaque from the Port – a traditional gift for first ports of call to offer ships on their Maiden Voyage. The Port of Kalama’s plaque will remain with the ship for its full life at sea. Port of Kalama has been a first port of call for seven Maiden Voyages in the last year alone.

The Port of Kalama, which is located on the deep-draft Columbia River immediately adjacent to Interstate 5 and the mainline railroad, is home to some of the most efficient grain terminals on the west coast. Two grain terminals and a deep-draft break-bulk terminal are located on the river.
